Nigel Lewis & the Zorchmen - Split
17.02.2007 - 12:24
After many years he was back on stage: Nigel Lewis. First with the Dead Kings, later together with the Zorchmen to let the people remember the good old days. Now the scene is shocked due to his announcement to stop making music.
The last show that he's going to play will be in Speyer at the Satanic Stomps in April. If you haven't seen him live until today take this last chance.
Now here's the original statement from Nigel, published on www.dieinstyle.de:
Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I will not be able to continue to play live shows and so Mental Hell at Speyer will be my last show, maybe forever. I have realy enjoyed the shows I have done with the Zorchmen: Choppy, Doyley and Ginger and I know that I will miss playing to such enthusiastic crowds with probably the best band I have played with.
I promise to make the last gig a truly intense night, and guarantee to give a comitted perfomance as I strive once again to break away from normal reality - if only for a short time.
It is my belief that the Psychobilly scene has changed for the better in the last few years with bands pushing back the boundries with each new album and I will be watching with interest to see which direction the music takes next. It is up to a new generation of bands to keep the scene going and growing.
I would like to thank every one at Die In Style for all the hard work and help they have given, and all the people who have done me the honour of paying their hard earned money to hear us play, all the musicians I have ever played with and the bands who have all helped each other out with equipment, support and advice. To the Shining Ones for inspiration, to Ah Pook the destroyer, to the brewers of beer!
This is the Space-Age, we are here to go! Next stop ?...
See you there
Nigel
Update: A live-CD, recorded on Februar 1st 2007 at the 20 Flight Rock in Hamburg will be released soon.
